A web app that helps Indian VTI learners explore and understand the complex world of work by organising it into seven sectors. It empowers learners to take control of their career development and make informed decisions about their future.

Background

Lakhs of work-ready youth in India lack the means to make meaningful career decisions because they do not have the tools to understand the expansive world of work and compare the various career choices within it.

Fold Labs, in partnership with Quest Alliance, developed the WoW web app to help learners build a career mindset. The app guides learners through career exploration and decision-making, offering personalised learning paths for each sector, tailored to their career interests.

Fold Labs, in partnership with Quest Alliance (QA), developed the World of Work web app to bridge this gap. The app guides learners through sector based career exploration and provides the details necessary to aid career decision-making.

WoW is part of QA’s broader Personalised Learning Engine Project (PLE), which aims to imagine personalised, career-oriented learning experiences for young Indian learners. The app was piloted in nine VTIs across India and provided strategic direction for designing QA's revamped Learning App.

Sector Based Organisation

Careers are divided into seven sectors, each with concise overviews covering key topics like job options, challenges, future scope, and qualifications.

A customizable test which helps students assess the suitability of each sector based on considerations like self, family and sector realities. This helps them compare sectors and find the ones that suit them the best.

Details to Enable Decision Making

Details like job options, challenges, opportunities, salary, location, skills needed, future prospects were provided for each sector along with on-ground videos, expert bytes, articles and other resources to encourage deep exploration.
